Membership Fees

As you all know, the recent economic downturn has proven challenging to many businesses, non-profit groups, government agencies etc, and Alberta Bobsleigh is no exception. We have been informed by the Alberta Government that our support grant will be cut by 18% this year, with no firm date as to when it will go back up. Also, Casino proceeds have gone down approximately 19%. The ABA Board of Directors have gone through the operating budget to identify areas of opportunity to reduce expenses while still maintaining a level of exceptional programming that our members have come to expect. At this time, the Board has unanimously agreed to a slight increase to our fall membership and race fees. ABA has worked diligently over the years to maintain an affordable fee structure to enable as many participants as possible to enjoy and excel in the sport of bobsleigh and we will continue to do our best to keep the fee structure as low as possible. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

For the upcoming season the Fall ABA Membership and race fees will be increased to $75.

Membership (effective October 4, 2010) - $75
Race fee (per athlete, per race) - $75

The ABA Board of Directors will continue to look for ways to maintain our programming, through budget cuts and fundraising activities, however we look to our membership to step up to the plate and offer their ideas, assistance etc. As many of you are aware, we are co-hosting a golf tournament on August 26, 2010. We NEED our membership to volunteer their time, donate silent auction items, encourage family members, friends, co-workers or connections to purchase spots in the tournament etc. In order to avoid further cuts or fee increases we need to find ways to raise money in other ways. We appreciate any and all assistance. Attached is the golf tournament package that was sent out a few weeks ago. Please forward on to anyone you think might be interested in attending or sponsoring the event. There is an early bird discount if you register before July 2nd.
